Do you have any bad habits in your life? What about good habits that you are proud of and want to continue doing? We all have things that we do every day without thinking, and often we go through our days living on auto pilot living out of our habits.
When we look at the life of Jesus we see there are habits in his life, things he does regularly or "as was his custom." He often went away to lonely places to pray. It was his custom to attend synagogue weekly.
In his book The Power of Habit, the Author Charles Duhigg wrote this, “Most of the choices we make each day may feel like the products of well-considered decision making, but they’re not. They’re habits.” If this is true, then it means our habits have great power to shape and transform our lives…they shape the way we think, the way we act and they influence how we make decisions.
At Mercy Road, we want our lives to be shaped by the life and teachings of Jesus and God’s Word, which means we want to develop habits in our lives that help us connect with God every day. In this series we will talk about Christian practices and habits that can help lead us into deeper connection with God and a closer walk with Jesus. Join us as we strive to develop Holy Habits in our lives.
